Miniaturized MEMS based spectrometers have attracted a huge interest for mobile high volume applications. Beside size and costs, further parameters like resolution, stability, and spectral range gain more relevance when comparing different approaches. By applying a scanning mirror which illuminates a fixed grating and catches reflected light simultaneously the spectral range can be doubled, from 950 to 1950nm. Using a folded Czerny-Turner setup and integrating it with a new place and bend approach the realization of an ultra-compact NIR spectrometer is possible. Based on examples of fruit ripening monitoring, it will be demonstrated how the analysis of organics will pave the way for future mobile applications.
