David Wang a technology executive with demonstrated success leading Fortune 500 company divisions and Venture Capital startups in the area of business development, product/marketing strategies, product development execution and manufacturing operation and supply chain management.
In his current role at MiraMEMS/Miradia as its President and CEO, Mr. Wang brings more than 30 years of successful product and business development experience in MEMS display and inertial sensor, CMOS image sensor, wireless communication, networking, system-on-chip and ASIC segment of the semiconductor industry.
Joined Miradia in 2003, Mr. Wang successfully negotiated a multi-million dollars JDP (Joint Development Program) with TSMC on the first all silicon MEMS micro mirror array for the Projection Display market. Hired and revamped the entire operation, manufacturing and quality team. Achieved results in less than two years by delivering the first commercial sample to the #1 global projector OEM in Japan. Hired the entire Taiwan team (10+ individuals) including a General Manager, process integration, packaging, product engineering and yield enhancement functions.
In his new role after Miradia was acquired in February 2009 by Touch Micro-System Technology, Mr. Wang successfully negotiated and secured multiple agreements with TSMC on MEMS/CMOS 3D integration technology licensing, product royalty and join-development on MEMS motion sensor platform technology, resulted multi-million dollars revenue to the new company.
Prior to Miradia, Mr. Wang served as the Vice President of Operations at Pixim, an innovative high performance CMOS image sensor company, from 2001 to 2005. Mr. Wang was instrumental in developing programs to improve product yield, cycle time and on time delivery. Mr. Wang also oversaw the development of the world first BGA CMOS sensor package and 0.18u CMOS image sensor process development and integration. Mr. Wang was responsible for setting up and running Pixim’s worldwide manufacturing operations including sites at Taiwan, Japan and China.
Before joining the Pixim and from 1997 to 2001, Mr. Wang served as the Director of the Consumer Networking Product Group at Agere Systems, where his responsibilities included managing product development for Agere Systems’ award winning analog modem platform and 802.11 WLAN ASIC programs. Mr. Wang earlier served as Director of Product and Market Development for the Client Networking Group at Lucent Technologies’ Microelectronics Access Group. In that capacity, Mr. Wang introduced a low-cost, industry-leading high-speed networking chipset for computers and Internet appliances for the home environment.
From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Wang worked for Advanced Micro Device’s Network Products Division in various management roles. In 1996, he became the Product Line Director for the Controller Family, where he was responsible for all aspects of 10/100 Ethernet Host Controller product family development. He also worked closely with the company’s marketing team in the areas of strategy, pricing and key customer engagement.
Prior to his stint at AMD’s Network Products Division, Mr. Wang was a Program and Design Manager with AMD’s Mobile Connectivity Business Unit, where he developed and implemented the business plan for the company’s Wireless Local Area Network program. He also was successful in developing strategic alliances with key customers in Pacific Rim countries and had oversight responsibility for AMD’s design center in Singapore.
Mr. Wang has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California-Berkeley and a master’s degree in engineering/business management from Stanford University.
